Swahid Smriti Mahavidyalaya, A premier institution of higher education of Arts Stream was established in 1989 in the heart of Belsor, a socially, politically and culturally sound village in the west of Nalbari area Belsor, a village specially known not only in Assam but also all over India because of the historically famous temple “ BilbeswarDevalaya “ , that was built by the pious king Nagakshya. The college is in the west direction of BilbeswarDevalaya and approximately 14 KM away from the district head quarter of Nalbari District.
Swahid Smriti Mahavidyalaya was established by a group of people of vision with tremendous feeling for the financially poor student of rural area so that those who could not dream of higher education would have the opportunity to earn a university degree. These people have been rendering sincere service to the academic progress and also of the social and cultural circles since their establishment days. The college is affiliated as undergraduate Art Stream under Gauhati University.
The untiring effort of the dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff and management has turned the college into a leading institution in the academic circle of Assam, which is seen in the previous results and performance of the college. It is indeed a matter of pride that our alumni who have attained extraordinary success in their respective subjects have already been well established and always remember our institution with affection and gratitude.
This college is trying to serve the rural community. It is established by a group of dreamers providing higher education to the youth of the community so that they can become efficient members and can contribute in the all round development of the society . The role of the college is to prepare the rural community to encounter future challenges.
